TrueQuote Ltd - Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we set on truequote.co.uk and account.truequote.co.uk, why we set them, and how to change your choices.

It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal information.

Your choices

When you first visit, we ask you to choose. Nothing optional is set until you do.

You can Accept all, Reject all, or use Manage to turn analytics and marketing cookies on or off independently.

Your choice is stored in a single cookie that covers both our main website and your account, so you only have to answer once.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent stops the relevant cookies being used and deletes the ones we set ourselves.

Categories

Strictly necessary

Always on. These make the site work and cannot be switched off.

| Cookie | Purpose | Set by | Duration | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | tq_consent | Remembers your cookie choices | TrueQuote | 6 months | | sessionId | Keeps you signed in to your account | TrueQuote | 14 days | | isAuthenticated | Records that a sign-in session is active | TrueQuote | Session | | sidebar-collapsed | Remembers layout preferences inside your account | TrueQuote | 1 year |

Analytics

Off unless you turn them on. These help us understand which pages are used and where people run into difficulty.

| Cookie | Purpose | Set by | Duration | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | _ga, _ga_* | Distinguishes visitors and sessions for Google Analytics 4 | Google | Set by Google | | tq_attr | Records which campaign a visit came from, using the utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term tags in the address | TrueQuote | 90 days | | intercom-* | Runs the support chat window and remembers your conversation | Intercom | Set by Intercom |

We use Google Analytics 4. Where you have not given analytics consent, Google Consent Mode is set to deny analytics storage, which means Google Analytics does not set or read these cookies.

The Intercom support chat is included in this category because it sets its own identifiers and records the pages you visit. If you decline analytics, the chat window is not loaded.

Marketing

Off unless you turn them on. These let us measure whether our advertising works.

| Cookie | Purpose | Set by | Duration | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | _fbp | Identifies a browser for Meta advertising measurement | Meta | Set by Meta | | tq_attr_ads | Stores the advertising click identifiers (fbclid, gclid) that came with your visit | TrueQuote | 90 days |

We use the Meta Pixel to see how many people who click one of our adverts go on to create a TrueQuote account. If you have not given marketing consent, the Meta Pixel is not loaded at all and no Meta cookie is created.

Advertising click identifiers are only stored, and only sent onward, where you have given marketing consent.

What we do with campaign information

If you arrive from one of our adverts and create an account, we record a short summary of where you came from against your account — for example facebook or google, and the campaign name. We use this to understand which advertising is worth continuing.

We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.

Third parties

Some of the cookies above are set by other companies. We do not control how long they last or what they contain. Their own policies apply:

Browser controls

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working, including staying signed in.

Changes

If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this page and, where the change affects an optional category, ask for your choice again.
