When you take a TrueQuote Website, we can register your domain name as part of setting up your site. Our websites run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) — the same infrastructure behind some of the world's biggest sites — and we register your domain there too. That means:

• One less company to deal with. Your domain, website, and support all live in one place — with us.
• No setup, no settings. The moment it's registered, it's already connected to your website. Nothing to configure, ever.
• Renewals handled. We renew it for you each year, so your address never lapses because a reminder email went to spam.
• It's your name. The domain is registered for your business. If you ever leave, you take it with you.

This is the one case where your domain lives with us rather than an outside provider — if you already own a domain, it stays put instead (see Transfers & renewals).

Choosing a good domain name

A few rules of thumb from setting up hundreds of trade websites:

• Keep it short and sayable. You'll be reading it out over the phone — smithsheating.co.uk beats smiths-heating-and-plumbing-services.co.uk.
• .co.uk is the safe bet for UK trades. It's what your customers expect. .com is fine too if it's free to take — and if both are, it's worth having both.
• Avoid hyphens and numbers. "Is that a dash or a space?" is not a conversation you want on every call.
• Match your business name as closely as you can — it looks right on quotes, invoices and the side of the van.
